How to use HotJar without asking for consent
In some countries, you can use Hotjar without asking users for consent if it does not collect personally identifiable information. Consult your lawyer and make sure that you live in one of them, before you proceed.
To stop Hotjar from collecting personal information:
- Log in to your Hotjar panel
- Click user icon in the top right and choose “Organisation settings”
- In the “Data suppression” pane, mark “Suppress location information” and “suppress all on-page content”.
- Go back to your website and in the settings of Hotjar module enable “Suppression mode”
- In the “Location” section choose to use Hotjar only in your country
- (Optional) Sign a DPA with Hotjar if it is required in your country. Here you can read the DPA and find more information about the process.
