Saving consents in ConsentsDB
Consents Database is a cloud service where you can keep proofs that your visitors consented to tracking and using their personal data for various purposes.
Who can use ConsentsDB
Saving consents in ConsentsDB will be available for free for users of WP Full Picture Pro v8 (coming in September). They will be able to save up to 500 consents a day until August 31, 2025.
In November 2024, ConsentsDB will also be available to users of WP Full Picture Free. Then we will also reveal pricing.
When will I need proofs of consent?
You may need to show proof that visitors consented to tracking:
- When authorities or data protection agencies ask for it during audits or investigations.
- If a user complains about being tracked without permission.
- In legal cases where privacy issues are involved.
What does a proof of consent actually prove?
Saving consents not only provides proof that a visitor agreed (or not) to specific uses of their personal data. It also proves that:
- that tracking tools on your website were configured correctly, to respect GDPR and visitors choices
- that the choice was given freely
- and that the visitors were given all the required information to make this choice.
That is why, before you start tracking consents, you should make sure that your website’s tracking setup complies to privacy regulations (see “GDPR setup helper” page). Otherwise, collected consents will prove that you were breaking the law.
What data is collected and saved as a proof
WP Full Picture collects and saves the following information as proof:
- The IP address of the device used to visit the website
- A unique, random device identifier created by the WP Full Picture plugin
- Consents given (or their lack)
- Copy of all texts in the consent banner at the time of consent
- Copy of important WP Full Picture settings, formatted for readability (like on the “GDPR setup helper” page)
- Information on previous consents given by the user (if available)
- Geolocated country of the visitor
- Mode of work of the consent banner at the moment of obtaining consent (opt-in, opt-out, info only)
- Time when consent was given (as reported by the user’s device)
- List of cookie names saved on the browser when consent was made (before loading tracking tools requiring consent)
- Information on whether the user uses ad-blocking technology
- Copy of the privacy policy current at the time of collecting consent
Where does WP Full Picture store consents?
WP Full Picture stores proof of consent in a secure database in France. The data is not kept on your server to prevent tampering with it (courts may not accept proofs of consent if you can modify them) and to minimize the load on your server.
How to find proof of consent from a specific user
