What is Visitor Scoring (a.k.a Lead Scoring) and how to set it up
Visitor scoring (called Lead Scoring in WP FP 8) is a unique and powerful feature of WP Full Picture.
It lets you:
- measure the quality of your traffic and ad campaigns,
- see how many visitors are likely to make a purchase,
- create powerful custom audiences that target visitors on different stages of your conversion path.
How lead scoring works
With Visitor Scoring, you can give visitors points for taking actions that are important to your business.
For example, they can get points for visiting product pages, actively searching for a product, signing up to a a newsletter, and more. Points are collected during one session.
When they collect enough points, WP FP can send an event to Google Analytics or a different tracking tool. These events can be called e.g. lead_value_10, lead_value_20, lead_value_30, etc.
You can then view how many people reached specific lead levels in your traffic reports.

You can also see which traffic sources and ad campaigns brought you the highest quality traffic and people who are the most likely to convert.

And finally, you can create custom audiences in your advertising tools like Google Analytics or Meta Pixel, which target only visitors who collected the most points (and are most likely to purchase your products).
How to set up lead scoring
To set up lead scoring, you need to:
1. Set events that are important to your business using the Advanced Triggers module. (learn how to set it up)
2. Give point values to these events

We recommend giving the events values from 1 to 5, where 5 is adding a product to cart or starting checkout. You can also set negative values if some events show that a person is not interested in purchase.
3. Set lead scoring levels

We suggest creating 4 to 5 levels, like 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50. It is best to keep the same point “distance” between levels and not make the distance lower than any point value of any event.
Good | Bad | |
Distance between levels | 10, 20, 30 | 10, 25, 100 |
Point value of an event when the distance between levels is 10 | from 0 to 9 (or negative value if it makes sense for any event) | 10 and above |
4. Set sending events in your tracking tools
Find the “Custom events and lead scoring” sections in the settings of your tracking tools.
Set up sending events for all triggers “Reached lead scoring level X” on the list.

Your final list should look something like this. of course, you can choose your own event names.

And that is all. Enjoy!
